Ghostface Killah, renowned as a founding member of the iconic Wu-Tang Clan, is set to debut a unique collection of music-themed Ordinal Inscriptions on the Bitcoin blockchain, marking a groundbreaking fusion of cryptocurrency and hip-hop culture. The announcement was made by the hip-hop legend himself via Twitter on Monday.
In partnership with Nakamotos on BTC, creators of the esteemed NakaPepes Collection, digital artist Rare Scrilla, and the innovative Ordinals inscription platform OrdinalsBot, Ghostface Killah, whose real name is Dennis David Coles, will immortalize his tracks on the Bitcoin network.
Reflecting on his deep-rooted connection to the Bitcoin community, Ghostface Killah expressed his enthusiasm for pioneering this venture, citing his longstanding engagement with the digital collectible space. He reminisced about his early involvement with projects like Counterparty and FakeRares, highlighting his commitment to the culture.
Although Ghostface Killah did not reveal precise information regarding the release date and acquisition process, hints provided on the Ordistorians Telegram channel, which is associated with the Nakamotos on BTC Twitter account, suggested that obtaining a NakaPepe v2 inscription could serve as the main method for participation in the drop.
The NakaPepes collection is slated to comprise 10,000 Ordinal inscriptions, each accompanied by a Creative Commons license and available for minting at no cost. These NFTs are currently listed with a floor price of 0.000898 BTC on Magic Eden, approximately equivalent to $60.
Commenting on the collaboration, Toby Lewis, Head of Strategy at OrdinalsBot, expressed excitement about joining forces with Ghostface Killah and the NakaPepes collection to bring an amalgamation of art and music to the Bitcoin blockchain. Lewis emphasized the transformative potential of recursive inscriptions introduced through the Ordinals protocol, enabling the inclusion of high-quality audio on the Bitcoin network.
The recent collaboration with Marathon Digital to mint the largest Ordinals inscription to date, the Runestone, further underscores the burgeoning possibilities of blockchain technology beyond financial applications. As the Bitcoin blockchain evolves into a multifaceted platform for creativity and innovation, initiatives like Ghostface Killah’s music release represent significant milestones in this transformative journey.
