Following Minecraft’s ban of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), the project NFT Worlds, which relied on the game’s approval, faced a significant setback. However, the team behind the project is now embarking on a new journey with a rebrand and a fresh approach.
Formerly known as NFT Worlds, the project has been rebranded as Hychain Games, the developer of the crypto video game Hytopia. Hychain Games is launching a node sale for Hychain, the game’s Layer 2 blockchain, which is based on Arbitrum’s Orbit technology.
Hytopia, a free-to-play game inspired by Minecraft, is set to release an “invite-only” beta version by the end of the first quarter. The beta has already attracted over 1 million pre-registered players. Hychain Games aims to revolutionize the Minecraft experience by introducing player-driven economies and real ownership of in-game assets through web3 functionality.
NFT Worlds faced challenges in 2022 when Mojang Studios, the developer of Minecraft, banned NFT integrations, disrupting NFT Worlds’ metaverse built on Minecraft’s source code. Despite this setback, NFT Worlds’ NFTs had previously generated significant transaction revenue.
With the launch of the Hychain node sale, Hytopia’s developers aim to invite the global gaming community to participate in ensuring the operation and security of the game’s underlying network. The node sale will unfold in five phases, with the first four phases exclusively accessible to whitelisted members.
“We’re excited to empower the gaming community through decentralization, allowing them to shape the future of gaming,” said ArkDev, pseudonymous co-founder of Hytopia and Hychain Games. “The node sale serves as a way to give back to the community and incentivize participation in network security.”
