Moonray, an Ethereum-based arena battler game, has achieved OpenSea’s largest gaming NFT mint to date, with 220,629 “Jadeon Adam” character skins minted over a 48-hour giveaway from November 19-21.
These free NFTs, minted on Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer-2 network Base, provide an earthy green in-game skin for players to use in Moonray’s PC version, available via the Epic Games Store. The game’s unique approach integrates NFTs as in-game items, enhancing player ownership and engagement.
OpenSea’s Head of Gaming, Oliver Maroney, praised the initiative, emphasizing the role of NFT-based items in driving mainstream adoption of crypto and digital collectibles.
Originally launched as a Bitcoin metaverse game on the Stacks network, Moonray pivoted to Ethereum to focus on combat mechanics and enable NFT integration on OpenSea. This move has significantly expanded its player base and brought new visibility to the game.
While Moonray plans to launch on PS5 next year, Sony’s crypto limitations mean NFT features will remain exclusive to the PC version at launch.
Hans Andersson, Moonray’s founder and CBO, expressed enthusiasm for the overwhelming community response and credited OpenSea’s support for the mint’s success.
