Despite enticing offers from competing scaling networks like Optimism and zkSync, Treasure, a prominent player in the decentralized gaming ecosystem, is reaffirming its commitment to Arbitrum. With its platform already boasting 15 games, Treasure has decided to forge ahead with Arbitrum, rejecting proposals for migration from other Ethereum scaling solutions.
This week, Treasure’s core team unveiled ambitious plans to introduce a Treasure Chain on Arbitrum, leveraging its existing MAGIC token for gas fees. The proposed Treasure Chain will serve as a custom Ethereum layer-2 scaling network, with the innovative addition of “Infinity Chains” to power various games within the Treasure ecosystem.
Pending approval from Treasure’s DAO, slated for a vote on February 12, Arbitrum’s developer, Offchain Labs, will spearhead the development of the Treasure Chain. This infrastructure will enable game creators to deploy their layer-3 Infinity Chains, creating a dynamic gaming environment around Treasure.
Karel Vuong, co-founder of Treasure, highlighted the synergies between Treasure and Arbitrum, emphasizing specific functionalities tailored to their needs. Vuong expressed confidence in Arbitrum’s evolution beyond DeFi, citing Treasure’s pivotal role in expanding its gaming capabilities.
A.J. Warner, Chief Strategy Officer at Offchain Labs, echoed Vuong’s sentiments, underscoring the collaborative potential across the Arbitrum gaming space. While exploring avenues for secure interoperability, Warner emphasized the need to avoid vulnerabilities, referencing past incidents like the Ronin Network’s bridge exploit.
Pending DAO approval, Treasure aims to launch the Treasure Chain testnet by the end of the current quarter, with a mainnet release scheduled for Q3 2024. The proposed plan promises enhanced cohesion within the Treasure ecosystem, increased utility for the MAGIC token, and innovative features like creator royalty settings on NFT sales.
For Treasure, the endeavor represents more than just technological advancement; it signifies the dawn of a decentralized game publisher paradigm akin to a “bottom-up Marvel Cinematic Universe.” As Treasure charts its course on Arbitrum, the potential for groundbreaking innovations in Ethereum gaming appears boundless.
