Spain-based airline Vueling joined hands with leading Bitcoin payment service provider BitPay to enable Bitcoin and other crypto payments by the beginning of 2023.
The partnership will recored the first low-cost European airline to enable Bitcoin payments. The Manager of Distribution Strategy and Alliances of Vueling declared that, following the collaboration with BitPay, Vueling proves its digital airline position. BitPay has been considered the most suitable partner by the airline, enabling it to provide its customers with the chance to perform secure and reliable crypto transactions.
The airline will also collaborate with payment service provider UATP (Universal Air Travel Plan). UATP seeks to connect airlines to alternative payment methods. This partnership aims to design the infrastructure suitable for crypto payments acceptance by early 2023. According to UATP’s SVP Partner Processing, this period is an exciting one for payments and the company is eager to watch this collaboration develop alongside Vueling’s acceleration in crypto payments use.
So far, the alternative payment method is open for Vueling website users. Nevertheless, tickets will have Euro prices displayed, with customers having to select to pay from over 100 crypto wallets from BitPay’s ecosystem. Despite Bitcoin, Vueling customers can choose from 13 additional cryptocurrencies.
