Renowned sportswear and lifestyle brand Adidas is forging creative alliances with NFT artists, marking a groundbreaking initiative that will debut during Korea Blockchain Week. Announced by Adidas /// Studio, also known as Three Stripes Studio, the global launch of the “Residency by Adidas” program is set to commence in September during Seoul’s Korea Blockchain Week.
This trailblazing initiative seeks to elevate digital artistic talent by spotlighting global artists, starting with a showcase of pseudonymous artist MonkeeMoto and Adra Kandil (known as Dear Nostalgia). Their diverse styles span limited and open edition Ethereum NFT artworks, highlighting MonkeeMoto’s game development and digital concept design and Kandil’s fusion of photography, collages, typography, and digital montages. Notably, Kandil boasts collaborations with luxury brands like Gucci, Chanel, Cartier, and Roberto Cavalli.
“Residency by Adidas” aspires to empower digital creators by providing a platform to showcase their art and establish collaborations, both digitally and in the realm of physical products. Stacey King, Global Head of Communications and Activations for Adidas /// Studio, emphasized the project’s alignment with the Web3 community, building on the studio’s previous NFT ventures with connected apparel and NFT artwork showcases in Berlin and New York City.
The inaugural limited edition NFT drop will feature 100 works per artist, priced at 0.15 ETH (approximately $250) each, exclusively available to attendees of the Seoul event. Furthermore, each purchase will include an exclusive physical hoodie. The open edition NFT drop, priced at 0.03 ETH (about $50), will be accessible for anyone to mint, with no purchase limits. Both drops are scheduled to take place from September 6 to September 11.
King underscored that this initiative’s forthcoming releases, spanning digital, physical, and interconnected projects, will parallel Adidas’ ongoing ALTS Ethereum NFT endeavors. Notably, Adidas recently collaborated with BAPE to introduce limited edition sneakers that come with digital twin counterparts, further exemplifying the brand’s fusion of fashion and technology.
