Yuga Labs, the mastermind behind the renowned Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT project on Ethereum, has revealed a fresh addition to their highly-anticipated metaverse world known as “Otherside.” In an exclusive event held at the CBS backlot in Los Angeles, approximately 40 NFT owners and devoted fans had the privilege of immersing themselves in a captivating 3D environment that perfectly embodies the essence of the Bored Ape culture.
Yuga Labs’ Chief Creative Officer, Michael Figge, explained that building a game world populated by thousands comes with technical and player support challenges. To fine-tune the Otherside experience, Yuga hosted this smaller playtest, enabling them to gather more focused feedback and cater to user preferences faster.
Otherside is a metaverse game centered around the popular Bored Ape profile pictures (PFPs). The game will offer NFT-based land plots where owners can create and collaborate in the persistent online world. The event showcased the Bored Ape clubhouse and avatars, evoking excitement from attendees who saw virtual renditions of their NFT avatars, adding a personal touch to the metaverse experience.
Yuga Labs plans to roll out playable Otherside avatars for the entire Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, allowing holders to control their own apes in the virtual world. Beyond the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Otherside will be open for other projects and creators to develop custom experiences within the platform.
The event showcased the progress Yuga Labs has made in bringing the concepts of the Bored Ape NFTs to life in an immersive and interactive metaverse. Otherside is gradually taking shape, promising to be a platform where communities can build and explore the worlds they desire. As the metaverse game development continues, the Bored Ape Yacht Club and Otherside aim to offer a transformative experience that extends beyond static JPEGs into a dynamic and vibrant virtual realm.
