Coinbase has expanded its Global Advisory Council by welcoming four distinguished national security experts, marking a notable addition to its existing roster. Dr. Mark T. Esper, the former US Secretary of Defense, headlines this group, bringing his extensive experience to the council.
Accompanying him are Stephanie Murphy, a former Florida congresswoman with a background in national security at the Defense Department; Frances Townsend, a former advisor to President George W. Bush on counterterrorism and homeland security; and David Urban, a lobbyist who also served as a senior advisor during Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and held a role overseeing corporate affairs at ByteDance.
This quartet joins the council’s initial four members, who were appointed back in May 2023. Coinbase’s decision to strengthen its advisory council with these accomplished national security experts comes at a significant juncture for the exchange.
