Effective October 16, 2023, the renowned Crypto.org Chain, a prominent blockchain network within the Cosmos ecosystem, has rebranded itself as the Cronos POS Chain, with POS signifying Proof-of-Stake.
This strategic rebranding initiative is aimed at fostering greater cohesion within the broader Cronos blockchain ecosystem, comprised of:
- Cronos ($CRO): The native utility token at the heart of the Cronos ecosystem.
- Cronos POS Chain (previously known as Crypto.org): Positioned as the “layer zero” of the Cronos ecosystem, it operates on the Proof-of-Stake protocol, part of the Cosmos network.
- Cronos EVM Chain (abbreviated to Cronos Chain): The primary Ethereum-compatible blockchain within the Cosmos ecosystem, housing a myriad of decentralized applications.
The root domain for the Cronos POS Chain has transitioned to cronos-pos.org, while the Cronos EVM Chain retains its existing domain cronos.org. This domain transition will occur incrementally over the coming weeks.
Initial URLs affiliated with Crypto.org will seamlessly redirect to the new cronos-pos.org domain URLs. These old URLs are anticipated to be phased out entirely by the end of January 2024, creating a unified online identity.
Importantly, this rebranding does not affect the core functionality or security of the Cronos POS network, which remains committed to upholding its stellar reputation for security, performance, and reliability. The network continues to thrive with its extensive network of validators and esteemed partners.
For detailed information on the transition from old to new URLs, users can refer to the document available at https://docs.cronos-pos.org/for-users/new-brand-and-domains.
The logo for the Cronos POS Chain preserves the iconic hexagonal design associated with the Crypto.org Chain on wallets and third-party platforms, underscoring its integral role within the Cronos ecosystem.
