Bitcoin City is an ambitious project for El Salvador and its design recently won a prestigious architectural prize.
There are people who do not believe that El Salvador and its president, who is a big fan of Bitcoin, will succeed in carrying out their crypto-related plans, predicting that Bitcoin will eventually hit rock bottom. However, the last 14 years of Bitcoin’s existence proved that the cryptocurrency is more endurant than it receives credit and, if that remains the case, El Salvador could potentially find success in its initiatives.
Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador, is fully invested in his plan to develop Bitcoin City, which will seek to attract wealthy investments from all over the world, eventually helping Bukele’s country and Salvadoran citizens.
The design proposed for Bitcoin City was created by Mexico-based Fernando Romero and Enterprise Free, his company. The blueprint already won the Landscape/Urban Design category of the LOOP Design Awards. According to the event’s website, the project will be placed in the East of El Salvador, closely connected to a new seaport and airport. The city is designed to draw its energy from volcanic activity resulting from a close-by volcano. The city encourages outside investment, especially from tech companies and crypto miners.
