Fujitsu, the well-known Japanese technology company, has submitted an application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to trademark a new brand. The trademark will include financial services, such as accepting deposits, financial management, financing loans, and cryptocurrency asset exchanges. Among these services, Fujitsu intends to offer brokerage services for cryptocurrency trading as per the application.
The new branding features the stylized word ‘FUJITSU’ with a sideways s-shaped swirl over the ‘J’ and ‘I’. The trademark application was submitted on March 16, 2023. The document provides an overview of Fujitsu’s services disclosed with the USPTO, alongside the trademark request.
Fujitsu has shown an increasing interest in Web3 technologies and applications. The company launched a Web3 acceleration platform in February to promote the creation of a diverse Web3 application ecosystem. This platform is designed to support a range of use cases, including digital content rights management, business transactions, contracts, and processes.
In Japan, financial regulators urged global regulators at the beginning of 2023 to introduce stricter banking rules for the cryptocurrency sector. The Deputy Director-General of the Financial Services Agency’s Strategy Development and Management Bureau, Mamoru Yanase, acknowledged that the problem was not with cryptocurrency technology itself. Yanase emphasized the need for tighter governance, better internal controls, and regulatory supervision.
