HIVE Blockchain has rolled out BTC mining systems which are powered by the Blocksale chips from Intel, according to the company.
Also known as HIVE BuzzMiner, the rigs are designed to produce between 110 and 130 terrahashes per second. According to HIVE Blockhain’s Chief Operating Officer and President, the computing power can grow to somewhere around 638 petahashes (PH) per second or even 754 petahashes per second, if they are taken together.
The blockchain miner owns data centers in Canada, where the company has its headquarters, and Sweden. In total, more than 1,500 rigs are already in place in the two countries. At first, in 2022, the company planned to order 13,000 of machines powered by Intel’s chips. However, HIVE decided to reduce the order in the context of the crypto winter and to allow the business to grow methodically.
In the latest trading numbers, HIVE dropped 2,8 per cent. However, year-over-year, the blockchain has increased its value 100%, following Bitcoin making its so-called comeback at the beginning of 2023. On the 9th of January, HIVE Blockchain announced that its rigs helped it generate 213.8 BTC just in December 2022.
