Pudgy Penguins, a prominent NFT project, has unveiled its latest venture, “Pudgy World,” a Web3 game leveraging the Ethereum Layer 2 network, zkSync Era. Described as an “immersive, digital environment,” Pudgy World marks the next phase in the project’s evolution, arriving amid a period of notable success. The NFTs’ floor price has nearly doubled in the past fortnight, and Pudgy Penguins recently introduced toys in 2,000 Walmart stores across the United States.
The alpha release of Pudgy World will be accessible to all gamers, with exclusive perks offered to Pudgy NFT holders and Pudgy Toy purchasers within the virtual realm. While specific gameplay details are limited, the company introduces two “hero characters,” Pudgy and Peaches, who will guide players through their adventures, as showcased in the animated launch trailer.
Furthermore, NFT holders stand to benefit from royalties as others engage with products linked to the game’s ecosystem. Notably, the project’s shift towards a metaverse game followed the removal of its original founders, who were ousted by the Pudgy Penguins community for perceived unfulfilled promises. Pudgy Penguins opted for zkSync as its Layer 2 network due to its status as the “first zkEVM and fastest proof system,” positioning it to scale Ethereum for widespread adoption. The company emphasizes zkSync’s role in introducing blockchain technology to the upcoming generation of mobile gamers and supporting the success of Pudgy World and its community.
