Solana Labs is preparing to launch a new ChatGPT plugin that will allow users to search and interact with the Solana blockchain using OpenAI’s conversational chatbot technology. This new tool is expected to simplify the navigation of the Solana blockchain and enable NFT purchases. Through the ChatGPT user interface, Solana Labs aims to establish secure and understandable standards around large language models and transaction processing while providing users with the ability to perform tasks like checking wallet balances, transferring tokens, and purchasing NFTs.
Solana Labs has made a beta version of the ChatGPT plugin available on its GitHub account for developers to use, and an official release is expected soon. Noah Gundotra, a software engineer at Solana Labs, stated that the plugin uses publicly available code and data. Additionally, Solana Labs has announced a USD 1 million grant to encourage the development and usage of AI on the Solana blockchain.
While other blockchain companies like Fetch.ai, Ocean Protocol, Chainalysis, and Forta Network have explored the integration of AI technology, Solana may be the first well-known, existing layer-1 chain to adopt such functionality. The announcement of the ChatGPT plugin has resulted in a positive effect on the price of Solana’s native token, SOL. According to CoinGecko’s data, SOL has risen by 7% in the last 24 hours, reaching a trading price of USD 22.61. By providing greater accessibility to users, Solana Labs hopes that the new plugin will promote the adoption of the Solana blockchain.
