Ubisoft, the gaming giant, has revealed the Ethereum NFT mint date for its inaugural blockchain game, “Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles.” The game’s “Warlords” NFTs are set to be available for minting on December 18. The private mint for users on the “darklist” will commence at 6 am ET, followed by the public mint opening at 2 pm ET on the same day. Notably, Ubisoft is offering 8,000 Champions Tactics Warlord NFTs for free minting, with collectors only required to cover the Ethereum network gas fees.
The Warlords in Champions Tactics are designed as pixel-style heroes with weapons, resembling social media profile picture (PFP) NFTs. Players can use these NFTs as their in-game account avatars. Holding a Warlord NFT in a crypto wallet will also provide access to the game’s next mint, allowing NFT owners to mint five Champions Tactics characters for free on a later date.
While the Warlords NFTs are on the Ethereum blockchain, the Champions Tactics game will be deployed on the Ethereum-compatible Oasys chain. A total of 9,999 Warlords NFTs will be minted, with 1,000 distributed to the Oasys community and 999 held by Ubisoft for future marketing initiatives and giveaways.
Champions Tactics is a player-versus-player tactical RPG with a dark fantasy aesthetic. The game features seven different factions ruled by battle-hungry warlords, each with its unique look and theme. The factions include zombie-like characters, demonic entities, medieval knights, and more. Although specific details about the gameplay and strategy are limited, the game is expected to offer a unique and engaging experience.
Ubisoft’s announcement follows its recent collaborations with NFT gaming projects Pixelmon and CyberKongz. While the extent of these partnerships is not entirely clear, both projects expressed their support for Champions Tactics’ upcoming Warlords mint and launch. Ubisoft, a major player in the gaming industry, continues to explore opportunities in the NFT and blockchain gaming space.
