Approximately USD 16 million worth of NFTs featuring the former president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, have been exchanged on the NFT marketplace OpenSea.
The trading resulted in over 10k of ETH. Launched as NFTs in the ERC-721 format, the digital cards displaying Trump were launched on the Polygon network. In December 2022, 45k Trump non-fungible tokens were created on the Ethereum sidechain. Each of the digital trading cards was priced at USD 99, initially. All of the collection’s items sold out in less than half a day, leading to a sum of USD 4.35 million.
Users of the Trump Sweepstakes are stated to receive gifts. Holders of at least 45 tokens reportedly have a chance to dine with the former president. Each subsequent sale grants the creator 10 per cent of the sale’s price. With this in mind, experts estimate that the collection’s designer managed to raise more than 1,000 Ether or approximately USD 1.65 million. The creator of the collection is called NFT LLC. Although Donald Trump agree to license the use of his name, he did not control, manage, or own the NFTs.
In total there are over 14k owners and 32 per cent of the bunch are unique. According to NFT LLC, the tokens are drawn by hand and took inspiration from the life and career of the former president.
