Bernard Arnault, the world’s richest man and CEO of luxury conglomerate LVMH, has reportedly started collecting NFTs. Despite his previous lack of enthusiasm for the technology, Arnault apparently disclosed his digital collection during a conversation with his former advisor and LVMH’s former chief digital officer, Ian Rogers. Rogers, who now works as the chief experience officer at Ledger, revealed on a podcast that Arnault showed him his OpenSea page, indicating his interest in digital collectibles.
Arnault’s sons, Alexandre and Frédéric, have shown considerably greater interest in NFTs in the past, with the former boasting a Cryptopunk Tiffany pendant and the latter displaying enthusiasm for Web3 tech with NFT display functionality on Tag Heuer watches. However, Arnault senior had remained relatively quiet on the topic until now.
Arnault’s NFT collection is just a small portion of his vast wealth, which includes 75 luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, and Tag Heuer, a luxury superyacht named Symphony, and his own private island in the Bahamas. Nevertheless, his interest in NFTs is a significant development in the world of digital collectibles, further underscoring their growing mainstream appeal.
