The Arbitrum Foundation is setting its sights on the blockchain gaming sector, unveiling plans for a substantial investment to catalyze the development of video games on its platform. In a proposal dubbed the “Gaming Catalyst Program,” the foundation seeks approval from the Arbitrum DAO to allocate approximately $400 million over the next two years.
The initiative aims to incentivize game publishers and developers to leverage the Arbitrum blockchain for creating innovative gaming experiences. With a dynamic approach fueled by innovation and robust technology, Arbitrum aims to replicate its success in the network competition within the gaming vertical.
The proposed allocation earmarks 200 million ARB tokens, valued at around $400 million at current prices, for this endeavor. The majority of these funds, 160 million ARB, would be directed towards incentivizing publishers and builders to launch new games on Arbitrum. The remaining 40 million ARB would be dedicated to supporting infrastructure initiatives essential for gaming integration within the Arbitrum ecosystem.
The Arbitrum Foundation underscores its commitment to attracting top-tier talent within the gaming industry and accelerating the advancement of gaming projects across various developmental stages. By cultivating an atmosphere conducive to creativity and expansion, Arbitrum aspires to position itself as a premier platform for blockchain-driven gaming initiatives.
While several blockchains have gained popularity in the gaming space, including Polygon, Immutable, Avalanche, and Solana, Arbitrum’s entry into the sector signals its ambition to carve out a significant presence in the burgeoning crypto gaming landscape.
