Changpeng Zhao, co-founder of Binance and a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency space, expressed gratitude to his supporters following his recent sentencing to four months in prison for anti-money laundering violations. Known as CZ, Zhao took to X to convey his appreciation for the support he has received during this challenging time.
“I would like to thank everyone for your care and support, be it writing letters, showing support on X, or in any other form,” Zhao wrote in his post. “They all mean a lot to me and keep me strong.”
Despite the legal setback, Zhao remains optimistic about the future and outlined his plans for the next chapter of his life. He announced the launch of a new educational initiative called Giggle Academy, indicating his intention to focus on educational endeavors moving forward.
“I will remain a passive investor (and holder) in crypto,” Zhao stated, acknowledging the changing landscape of the industry. “Our industry has entered a new phase. Compliance is super important.”
Zhao also addressed concerns about the security of funds on Binance, emphasizing the platform’s commitment to user protection. He reiterated the importance of compliance and safeguarding user interests, contrasting Binance’s approach with recent events involving other cryptocurrency exchanges.
