McLaren and its Formula 1 team sponsor OKX are excited to announce the launch of the “Race Rewind” digital collectible series, offering fans a unique opportunity to commemorate each F1 grand prix of the season with free NFTs on the Ethereum network’s X Layer. This initiative not only enhances fan engagement but also offers the chance to win exclusive McLaren prizes.
Starting Friday at 10 am GMT, fans can mint the first NFT of the series, celebrating the Canadian Grand Prix, via the OKX Wallet. These NFTs will be minted on OKX’s recently launched Ethereum layer-2 scaling network, X Layer, which utilizes Polygon technology.
“We want to build community and bring new utility to crypto,” said Haider Rafique, OKX Chief Marketing Officer. “The blockchain space isn’t just about trading and investment; it’s also about finding innovative ways to bring people closer to the things they care about.”
The “Race Rewind” collectibles combine multimedia and audio elements, allowing fans to relive the excitement of each race as McLaren competes throughout the F1 season. Fans who manage to collect the complete set for the remainder of the 2024 season will be entered to win a special “VIP” prize. This includes a McLaren Fan Experience at a future race, $2,500 for travel expenses, and a thrilling hot lap around a race circuit.
OKX is a primary sponsor of McLaren’s F1 team and one of many cryptocurrency companies that have embraced the racing league through sponsorships in recent years. This collaboration underscores the growing intersection of cryptocurrency and global sports, aiming to enhance fan experiences through innovative digital technologies.
