ConstitutionDAO, a DAO that wishes to aquire the US Constitution, has planned to attempt once again to acquire the Constitution of the United States of America.
According to Sotheby’s early November (2022) announcement, the civic artefact represented by a sole privately-owned copy of the Constitution will be posted for auction. Although the initial auction was postponed, ConstitutionDAO will make its bid once again, this time with a different strategy.
ConstitutionDAOs announced through a thread on Twitter that the people they inspired have been planning their move for an entire year. This means that various communities were busy developing privacy technology and running experiments with DAOs. Moreover, the bidders from 2021 were familiar with how much money ConstitutionDAO was going to bring to the bidding table via Ethereum’s transparency. This time, contributors are faced with two options: either public contribution or a private one. By doing this the total amount of money will be masked from unwanted eyes.
Furthermore, following the announcement from Sotheby’s, the crypto environment gathered together to rekindle the initiative. Following partnerships with fundraising platforms such as nucleo or juiceboxETH, public and private contributions are now possible. So far, participants manage to pile together 233.2 ETH. However, the fundraiser for the constitution was temporarily halted following the auction’s postponement.
According to a tweet from ConstitutionDAO, the second attempt will be made to buy the civic artefact in a bid to start a collection which is to be run by ‘the people’. The DAO’s mission is apparently to help people learn about democratic innovations via Web3.
