Crypto exchange Binance has announced its intention to help Georgia with developing its crypto sector by rolling out blockchain and educational initiatives.
The popular platform has been growing its footprint in the area, having related projects in a number of countries in the region. Binance signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) With GITA, the Agency for Innovation and Technology in Georgia. The two partners wish to contribute on and implement the education of Georgians through community initiatives in the crypto and blockchain space. The two sides want to develop Georgia’s cryptocurrency industry.
The partnership announcement follows a meeting between Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance, and Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia. The meeting took place in November 2022 and investments were another topic on the agenda. The collaboration will include projects run by both Binance Charity and Binance Academy. Furthermore, there will be local hackathons and events organised by BNB Chain.
According to Vladimir Smerkis, the regional director of Binance, the company’s goals are in tune with those of GITA. The two entities will try to develop a proper Georgian crypto ecosystem in which technology and innovation can be encouraged. He also stated that Georgians show a growing interest in crypto, particularly in cryptocurrency education.
