Luxury fashion house Gucci has partnered with blockchain technology firm Yuga Labs to launch an exclusive collection of jewelry called “Otherside: Relics by Gucci”.
The collection’s unique feature is its ability to bridge the gap between the digital and physical worlds, as it includes both a physical wearable jewelry piece and a non-fungible token (NFT) that unlocks exclusive benefits within the Otherside metaverse. The KodaPendent series, the first in the Relics line, will showcase a pendant designed to resemble a Koda alien, with “GG” (short for “Good Game”) engraved on it.
Each physical pendant will be made of silver and feature a unique edition number on the back. Yuga Labs will release 3,333 unique KodaPendents for sale on April 6, and each pendant will cost 450 APE or almost USD 1900. Notably, citizens from African, Central American, and Asian countries are ineligible to receive a pendant, with the accessories only being available to citizens of select countries such as the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, and most European countries.
Only Otherdeed NFT holders, such as Koda and Vessel NFTs, will be able to purchase the KodaPendent collection. Each affiliated Otherdeed NFT will be updated to display a virtual version of the jewelry. Additionally, KodaPendent will unlock distinctive cosmetic options for Otherside avatars, set to launch later this summer as per Yuga Labs’ announcement. This partnership is anticipated to reinforce Gucci’s relationship with blockchain technology and meet the rising demand for digital collectibles and NFTs among affluent consumers.
